ABOUT US
!Xaus Lodge is a community-owned eco-lodge located in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Co-owned by the Khomani San and Mier communities—who are also shareholders in the operating company—the lodge is professionally managed by TFPD to ensure long-term sustainability and impact. Our mission is to deliver authentic, responsible tourism experiences that celebrate indigenous culture, support environmental conservation, and create meaningful economic benefits for the communities involved.
OUR IMPACT
At !Xaus Lodge, positive impact is at the heart of our operations through a community-benefit business model. Owned by the Khomani San and Mier communities—who are shareholders in the operating company—the lodge ensures direct community benefit through employment, skills development, and dividends. We preserve indigenous heritage by employing local people, supporting traditional craftwork, and offering authentic cultural experiences. Operating off-grid in the fragile Kgalagadi desert, we use solar energy, conserve scarce water, and minimize our environmental footprint to protect biodiversity. Through guided walks, stargazing, and storytelling, guests gain a deeper appreciation of San and Mier histories and the importance of sustainable tourism. This integrated approach supports marginalized communities while conserving one of Africa’s most remote wilderness areas.
