This trip will take you deep into the Amazon, to pristine and distant places that remind you of how magical and admirable nature is. We will get to know the ancestral ethnic groups of the Amazon and share with the Tucanos, Taibanos, Barasanos, Cuberos, Tatuyos, Besanos and Guananos who have coexisted with the endless jungle since time immemorial. We will even witness the Sacred Dance of the Yurupari, now opened to visitors. This trip consists of a flight from Bogotá to the city of Mitú, in the department of Vaupés. We will take a private charter flight from Mitú to the indigenous village of Buenos Aires. Have a traditional dinner and meet the community, learning about their traditions and stories. Sleep in a tent or in a hammock at the Communal house. The next day we visit La Ventana del Mundo to see the beautiful views and the petroglyphs and that evening camp out under the stars in the belly of the jungle.

OUR IMPACT
ProColombia partnered with Tourism Cares on a Meaningful Travel Map in advance of the Tourism Cares with Colombia Meaningful Travel Summit in November, 2021. The pins on the Colombia Map represent community tourism experiences around the country, offered by receptive operators who design their tours for local impact, economic benefit for communities, and to reflect the richness of the experiences you can have traveling throughout Colombia. Their work, and the organizations they support, diffuse the economic benefits of tourism and support sustainable tourism growth in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Turismo Comunitario Map can be found on the ProColombia website: https://colombia.travel/en/tourism-cares

DETAILS
Please note: these community tourism experiences are offered by in-country operators. We marked the Map with the approximate location of the community experience.
