Explore a lush paradise with a scenic hike, vibrant botanical gardens, a stunning waterfall, and rich Hawaiian cultural experiences, perfect for all visitors.

OUR EXPERIENCES
Waimea Valley on Oʻahu’s North Shore provides visitors with a scenic, paved hike through lush botanical gardens teeming with over 5,000 tropical and endangered plants, native birds, and cultural sites, culminating in a refreshing swim under the 45-foot Waihi (waterfall) guarded by trained lifeguards and life‑vests provided for safety.

In addition to natural beauty, the valley offers rich Hawaiian cultural experiences—from ancient heiau and restored living sites to daily hula performances, storytelling, lei‑making, and guided history or botanical tours included with admission.

ABOUT US
Waimea is a living puʻuhonua — a place of refuge, healing, and cultural resilience. Guided by kānaka and grounded in aloha, we work to preserve Waimea’s human, cultural, and natural resources through education, stewardship, and community connection.

OUR IMPACT
Waimea Valley preserves Hawaiian culture and native ecosystems through the care of cultural sites, botanical gardens, and educational programs. Our efforts include the Ka‘apuni o Waimea program, recognizing Ho‘okipa Ambassadors who learn Hawaiian values; a robust Artisan Program featuring traditional crafts; and cultural demonstrations throughout the valley.

We serve over 6,000 students annually with ahupua‘a-based education and manage 1,500 acres of conservation land, planting over 80,000 native trees. Our botanical gardens protect rare Hawaiian and global plants, including the endangered alae ‘ula.

Community engagement includes events like the Kalo and ‘Awa Festival, Makahiki, and Aha Hula, along with volunteer programs and venue use for local gatherings. Waimea Valley hosts over 500,000 visitors each year, 20% of whom are kama‘āina.
