The Global Meaningful Travel Map
Glenshane Country Farm
OUR EXPERIENCES
Step into a world that is both remote and instantly welcoming as James McCloy, a fourth-generation shepherd and sheep farmer, offers a firsthand experience of the centuries-old skill of herding in one of Ireland’s most untouched natural landscapes.
ABOUT US
Our goal is to create authentic, unique experiences for visitors from around the world. Through immersive, multi-sensory activities, we aim to leave guests with unforgettable stories to share. Most of our experiences are tailored for both tour operators and private bookings, allowing us to customize each offering to suit our clients' needs.
OUR IMPACT
Glenshane Country Farm is a "hidden gem" in an area where tourism is still growing. For generations, the McCloy family farm provided part-time support, but through responsible tourism, Jamese has created full-time employment for himself and his son Jack, all while preserving the land they cherish.
The McCloys are passionate about local culture, sustainability, and showcasing traditional skills, including training their border collies in both English and Irish. As a respected community figure, Jamese is proud of the mural in Maghera honoring him, Moss the Sheepdog, and their flock. He is also a key member of the Loughinsholin Tourism Cluster, a network of 12 local businesses working together to boost tourism.
The family now offers woolen products made from their own flock, supporting local artisans and giving visitors a piece of Glenshane to take home.
"We do it because we love it!"
