For the travelers eager to do more, we offer volunteering opportunities, from clean ups to hands-on conservation activities, allowing visitors to actively support local efforts on wildlife protection. Whether travelers have an hour or a day, their time with us transforms a simple visit into an unforgettable experience that leaves a lasting impact on the wild animals of Naxos.

ABOUT US
Naxos Wildlife Protection is a non-profit environmental organization operating a Wildlife Rescue & First Aid Station. We care for injured, weak, and orphaned wild animals from Naxos and the neighbouring islands, providing them specialised treatment and rehabilitation with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat. Beyond rescue missions, we strive to create a safer and healthier environment for wildlife through environmental awareness projects, educational presentations and initiatives that protect and restore the natural habitats of local fauna.

OUR IMPACT
Since its founding in 2014, Naxos Wildlife Protection has made a meaningful and measurable difference for wildlife across Naxos and the Cycladic islands. Each year, our rescue and first aid station receives more than 150 injured, weak, or orphaned wild animals, ranging from hedgehogs and sparrows to sea turtles. With the vital support of local veterinarians and our collaboration with partnering wildlife hospitals throughout Greece, we are proud to successfully rehabilitate and release the majority of these animals—reaching a 70% release rate for wild birds and an impressive 85% for sea turtles.

One of our most impactful ongoing efforts is the "Protection of Sea Turtles in the Cyclades" initiative, active since 2019. Through this program, we have rescued and rehabilitated 37 sea turtles from across the Cycladic islands, offering these endangered creatures a second chance at life and contributing to the preservation of marine biodiversity in the region.
