The Global Meaningful Travel Map
Fundación Agua y Tierra
OUR EXPERIENCES
The tour consists of a circuit of rural community ecotourism, which includes 16 tourism initiatives involving four communities, led by the Agua y Tierra Foundation. The foundation focuses on the conservation of sea turtles and promotes community tourism. Activities include Turtle Nesting Watching, Hatchling Release, kayaking through mangroves, or exploring Mangrove Trails. Visitors can also experience life on Mamacita Dairy Farm to learn more about daily farm work, such as milking cows, animal husbandry, and crop cultivation. Additional attractions include a visit to six waterfalls through a private farm, and a trip to the community of Higueroso Viejo, where guests can learn about this historic town and enjoy horseback riding. The tour also includes a visit to Punta Naranjo on the Pacific coast for snorkeling and relaxation at Secreta Beach, which is surrounded by trees. Participants can take a traditional cooking class with the community, visit Doña Hilda to learn more about the sugar cane grinding process, enjoy a presentation of folk dances, and explore the community of Mata Oscura.
