The Reach Gallery Museum
OUR EXPERIENCES
The Reach Gallery Museum is the cultural heart of the Fraser Valley. Presenting a year-round schedule of exhibitions and programs, there is always something new to see and do at The Reach! As the center of cultural and creative innovation in the Fraser Valley, we are committed to preserving and sharing the stories of our rich and diverse cultural heritage and showcasing the best in the visual arts from both inside and outside our community.
ABOUT US
Located on unceded Stó:lō territory, The Reach is the leading resource for cultural and creative innovation in the Fraser Valley, committed to preserving and sharing the stories of our rich and diverse cultural heritage and showcasing the best in visual arts from both inside and outside the community. The Reach is a community gathering place that forges connections between contemporary art and local history and fosters intercultural and intergenerational exchanges. Each year, The Reach produces 12-15 art and history exhibitions and hosts hundreds of cultural events and programs to serve the community. Consideration is given to diversity and inclusion and programming designed for every age group, from very young children to seniors, persons with disabilities, and those groups that have been historically underrepresented. Although a relatively young organization, The Reach has already been recognized at the highest levels for its contributions to the cultural sector.
OUR IMPACT
The Reach plans and executes annual exhibition and public programming that is inclusive, with a deliberate attempt to address sectors that have been marginalized, misrepresented, or excluded. Increasing divisiveness about issues of race, public health, climate change, and politics in recent years provides The Reach with a valuable opportunity to provide a forum for discussion and learning. They use the productive discourses at the intersection of art and history to publicly explore cultures, histories, and creative practices of several historically underrepresented communities. Ongoing efforts are being made to educate and provoke reflection on many pressing issues including racial and gender equity and inclusion, examinations of ongoing tensions such as settler and colonial attitudes, historical grievances, and even complex and challenging religious concerns. Diverse needs and expectations are addressed through public tours for all ages, as well as camps and workshops.
