Ethical Tours offers sustainable, inclusive eco-adventures in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, based in Ballymahon, Co. Longford. We provide guided and self-guided electric and manual bike tours, as well as accessible experiences using e-mobility scooters, allowing travellers of all abilities to explore scenic routes such as the Royal Canal Greenway, Corlea Bog, Shannon Riverside, and Newcastle Forest. Guests experience authentic connections with nature, local heritage, and the community, all while minimising their environmental impact through our solar-powered operations and commitment to responsible travel.

Ethical Tours is a family-run, eco-conscious adventure company based in Ballymahon, Co. Longford, specialising in sustainable and inclusive experiences throughout Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands. Our mission is to connect visitors with the region’s natural beauty, history, and local culture through guided and self-guided electric and manual bike tours, accessible e-mobility adventures, and walking routes. We are dedicated to minimising our environmental impact and operate a low-carbon model at every stage of our business. Our energy needs are met by on-site solar power, and all tours follow Leave No Trace principles. By collaborating with local businesses and offering accessible options for all abilities, we ensure that every guest enjoys a memorable, responsible adventure that supports both the community and the environment.
OUR IMPACT
Ethical Tours creates a positive impact across community, environment, and education. Our sustainable, inclusive business model is powered by on-site solar energy, and all tours use low-carbon transport like bikes, e-bikes, and e-mobility scooters—greatly reducing our environmental footprint.
We partner with local businesses and artisans to ensure tourism revenue supports the regional economy and local jobs. Our tours are designed for all abilities, with accessible routes and adaptive equipment, making adventure possible for guests with disabilities and diverse needs.
Culturally, we celebrate and preserve local heritage through guided experiences at sites like the Corlea Trackway and the Shannon River, fostering authentic connections between visitors and the community.
We build awareness by educating guests on Leave No Trace principles, encouraging reusable gear, and minimising waste. Our guides share stories of local history, nature, and sustainability, empowering travellers to make responsible choices.

What accommodations do you make for people living with disabilities?
At Ethical Tours, we’re committed to making our experiences accessible and welcoming to everyone, including people with disabilities. Our tours accommodate all abilities, with accessible cycling options and four e-mobility scooters available for guests with limited mobility.
Our E-Mobility Accessible Tours use specially designed scooters to explore scenic trails, the Royal Canal, and historic landmarks in comfort and safety. Routes can be tailored to avoid steps or uneven terrain, and accessible alternatives are always available. Guests are encouraged to contact us in advance to discuss specific needs and ensure a smooth, inclusive adventure.
Our new website will be fully accessible and compliant with EU accessibility guidelines, making it easy for everyone to find information and book online. We also provide two designated disabled parking bays at our Ballymahon base, and our team is always ready to assist.
