OUR EXPERIENCES
Comfortable guesthouse in Batu Katak village, run by the local team. Six double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms (and mosquito nets), porch and garden. Direct access to the river with forest on the opposite bank – great for wildlife viewing. Breakfast provided, and other meals from the restaurant on request. Excursions available including forest walks and river rafting.

ABOUT US
Gibbon Guesthouse is a ecotourism project established by Ibu Bumi Orangutan, an NGO working with local communities to promote an eco-farming program in Batu Katak. The guesthouse provides ecotourism activities and volunteer programs. This Meaningful Travel Map Impact Partner was brought to our attention by Animondial, a specialist consultancy that provides impartial advice to guide travel and tourism, improve animal and nature protection and deliver meaningful change. Animondial’s ‘Animal Protection Network’ is a biodiversity partnerships initiative that aims to identify reputable, professional and impactful NGOs and other organisations to form mutually beneficial biodiversity-benefitting collaborations for nature. OUR IMPACT
The guesthouse is managed and run entirely by people from the village, providing a sustainable income source connected to the amazing natural environment surrounding it and the nearby Gunung Leuser National Park. This social business provides resources to the local economy.
