ABOUT US
Proudly based in Asheville, the Center for Craft resources the preservation and innovation of craft. We catalyze the people and ideas behind the objects that shape our lives.

Each year, the Center provides nearly $500,000 in grants and fellowships to makers, scholars, and curators while also producing exhibitions and public programs that shed light on the role of craft in the 21st century.

OUR IMPACT
For 29 years, we have proudly served the craft community, fostering creativity and innovation across the nation. Since launching our first grant program in 2005, we have distributed over $7.83 million to 1,572 grantees and fellows, supporting makers and thinkers from all 52 states and U.S. territories. Each year, more than $465,000 is invested in advancing craft innovation, helping artists push boundaries and explore new ideas.

Our commitment extends beyond innovation to emergency relief, having distributed over $1.3 million in support to 893 makers and craft organizations in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. Our downtown Asheville gallery attracts over 15,000 visitors annually, while our website reaches more than 96,000 visitors each year, broadening the reach and impact of contemporary craft.
