OUR IMPACT
Grootbos Foundation is dedicated to lasting, genuine landscape conservation of the landscape and ecosystem of the Walker Bay region known for the biodiversity of the Cape floristic region underpinned by scientific research and baseline databasing of life sciences including but not limited to botany and entomology
Grootbos Foundation is equally committed to uplifting the human communities who live within this landscape through education, vocational training, lifeskills, mentorship, youth development, sports development and enterprise development to ensure that all aspects of the local ecosystem (nature and people) are included in the goals of Grootbos Foundation. The environment is home to humans as well as nature, and is the driver of eco-tourism to the region. The strategy is to protect every part of the ecosystem for the greater good of nature as well as humans, in particular those who live in poverty and have the least opportunity because of being reliant on public funding/ healthcare/ education and social grants.
