The Global Meaningful Travel Map
Discover Newport
About
A visit to The Classic Coast—nine vibrant and historic towns, all sharing some seriously prime New England coastline—is both everything you expect and enjoyably unpredictable. This is a place and a people made of surf and soul, raised by the ocean and built by eccentric and outspoken rebels some 300-plus years ago. If you're looking for classic Colonial architecture and breathtaking New England landscapes, we've got them—trust us. But it’s the feeling you get here—of being switched off yet inspired, engaged yet refreshed. There's no word for it, but it happens every day on The Classic Coast.

Impact
Steeped in history and cultural significance, and surrounded by the ocean, Discover Newport is committed to sustainable tourism that creates a lasting positive impact on our visitors, communities, and nine coastal towns. We recognize and embrace our role in promoting responsible tourism in the region through environmental stewardship, cultural preservation and promotion, community-centered initiatives, inclusivity, and accessibility for all.
With this, we embark on the important task of developing, executing, and fostering sustainable tourism for years to come. The work has already begun by engaging our industry in conversations to identify current initiatives and future goals, understanding our region’s environmental risks and planning for the future, sharing the voices and stories of our region’s cultural heritage, fostering inclusivity and accessibility, and supporting responsible transportation options such as water shuttles and a seasonal free trolley system that runs throughout Newport. We also look to the future to ensure that this work continues, grows, and evolves.
At our core, it is our history, cultural identity, and natural surroundings that have attracted visitors for centuries. We believe that through strategic and collaborative efforts, we can not only preserve these assets but also continue to build upon their invaluable historic foundations for generations to come.
