Pewabic Pottery

Discover a historic pottery studio in Detroit, featuring handcrafted ceramics, workshops, and a museum showcasing over 120 years of artistry.

OUR EXPERIENCES
Pewabic Pottery is one of the oldest continuously operating potteries in the U.S., handcrafting pottery and tiles from its National Historic Landmark studio on Detroit’s east side. Visitors can shop Pewabic’s original ceramics and works by over 30 independent artists from across North America, then explore the second-floor museum galleries to learn about Pewabic’s 120+ year history and view its historic ceramic collection.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Pewabic is dedicated to enriching the human spirit through clay. Support from members, donors, and ceramic art purchases helps keep the studio’s workshops, tours, events, and museum free and open to the public.

Tip: Register for a tour or workshop to deepen your experience. In warmer months, enjoy lunch in the courtyard surrounded by ceramic art, a tile fountain, and a mural. And as you explore Detroit, keep an eye out for iconic Pewabic tile installations throughout the city.
