OUR EXPERIENCES
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts center open to all, dedicated to celebrating the African American journey and its powerful influence on popular culture in America and around the world. From world-class art galleries and thought-provoking exhibitions to our signature Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival and a wide range of performances, workshops, and community events, the Center is a vibrant hub for creativity, culture, and connection.

ABOUT US
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is a vibrant hub for celebrating African American culture and the legacy of playwright August Wilson. Located in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, the Center presents bold, multidisciplinary art—from visual arts and music to dance, theater, and education.

Since opening in 2009, it has welcomed over one million visitors and become one of the largest Black-led cultural institutions in the country. Rooted in Wilson’s spirit, the Center uplifts Black stories and fosters creativity, connection, and community.

OUR IMPACT
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is a home for Black creativity, connection, and storytelling. With your support, we welcome over 100,000 visitors each year, offer more than 60,000 free admissions, engage 4,000 students, and employ over 400 artists and cultural workers.
