ABOUT US
Elijio Panti National Park, managed by the Itzamna Society, spans 12,600 acres in Belize's Cayo District. "We are the ancient people, the Maya; we are the modern people, the Maya of Belize. Our heritage includes the rainforest and her lands, rivers, trees, medicinal plants and herbs, birds, jaguars and other wild animals, as well our people and our customs. We are dedicated to preserving all of this." The park focuses on protecting sacred caves, mountains, ancient Maya temples, and ecosystems while promoting sustainable living among local farmers and volunteers.
This Impact Partner was shared by the Good Travel Institute as one of their Good Travel Experiences. Each Good Travel Experience is evaluated through a clear and recognised framework, ensuring measurable social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits for local communities.
OUR IMPACT
The park protects and sustains the ecosystem by defending animals, plants, and waters from poaching, chemicals, insecticides, pollution, and industrial abuse. Efforts include sustainable organic agriculture, replanting native flora, and educating children and visitors on nature guardianship to improve ecological conditions for future generations.
