Chocobar Cortés
OUR EXPERIENCES
One of the top three rated restaurants in San Juan, travelers can dine for lunch or dinner, purchase hand-crafted chocolates, and visit the upstairs Caribbean art galleries of Fundación Cortés, one of Chocobar Cortés' most significant corporate social responsibility projects, fostering arts and culture as vehicles of social transformation and having served more than 13,000 children and youth to date through its educational programs. The company works closely with Dominican cacao growers supporting them in the form of financing, technical consultation, competitive prices, and other forms of assistance. Recently, Cortés used its almost 90 years of experience working with cacao in the Dominican Republic to jumpstart the cacao industry in Puerto Rico. By selecting only cacao trees of the highest quality and yield, Cortés has provided a framework in which local agricultures can successfully grow cacao in a sustainable and profitable way. ABOUT US
Chocolate Cortés is a 4th generation, family-owned, Caribbean, bean-to-bar chocolate manufacturing company. Originally established in the Dominican Republic in 1929 by Don Pedro Cortés Forteza, his pioneer spirit promptly moved him to export, and subsequently begin production of Cortés products from his native Puerto Rico; thus paving the way to fulfill his vision of developing Caribbean grown cacao to its fullest potential.
OUR IMPACT
Fundación Cortés is an initiative that, through the arts and humanities, seeks to promote the strengthening of the values of our people. Fundación Cortés has started a philanthropic legacy through an active commitment to education that uses the visual arts as an aid to raise awareness about our values, raise awareness about our identity as a people and instill feelings of trust that promote positive and strengthening changes in the spirit of the Puerto Rican and Caribbean community. Our theory of social transformation consists of the integration of Caribbean art, dialogue, reflection and creative expression through experiential and motivational experiences and individual and teamwork workshops, which at the same time promote the management of emotions and self-care. the development of critical thinking and other skills such as public speaking, increased self-esteem, and emphasis on social values as priorities for community well-being. We are proud that Fundación Cortés has already become a meeting point to disseminate and promote the appreciation and study of the arts and humanities, as well as having achieved successful results to date, including having impacted on 13,000 children, youth and older adults by medium of educational programming, and have over 75,000 registered visits to the twelve exhibitions presented to date.
