OUR EXPERIENCES
Campbell River Whale Watching and Adventure Tours has a long history of delivering exceptional wildlife viewing and adventure tours. The company specializes in nature tours focused on ethical whale and grizzly bear viewing, as well as single day and multi day wilderness kayaking tours.
ABOUT US
Campbell River Whale Watching offers premier wildlife and nature experiences through respectful and ethical practices. Sustainability is factored into every decision we make as we continue to strive to improve our practices, and challenge our industry to join us and help make a difference. Our vision is to be a leader among Vancouver Island whale watchers. We aim to inspire transformation in the behaviours and thought processes of our guests around sustainability and conservation through a connection with nature and wildlife.
We are proud recipients of the following awards amongst others: Sustainability award - Tourism Vancouver Island (2018); Finalist, Educational Leadership – Eco Star Awards (2019); Certificate of Excellence – Trip Advisor Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards - Tourism Business of the Year (2020 & 2022). We are also part of the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Community, and are currently sustainable Tourism Gold Certified, but we are always looking at ways we can do better.
OUR IMPACT
We are committed to promoting a culture of respect and inclusion, examining our workforce and the various barriers that are in place that work against equity, diversity, and inclusion and implementing strategies to overcome them such as, revising policies and procedures annually, examining language and available supports, asking for employee and guest feedback through various channels, training staff about the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and our policies, and encouraging applications from persons of various backgrounds. As a team of expert mariners, certified naturalists and lovers of wildlife, we believe that showcasing responsible wildlife viewing behaviours is a key component of operating as a sustainable organization. In 2019 we partnered with another Campbell River company to formalize a Whale Watching Code of Conduct. This code, signed by all of our guides, goes above and beyond federal regulations to demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of these magnificent animals. We have also been Carbon Neutral since our 2018 season! In partnership with Wilderness International, we protect old-growth rain forest in British Columbia.
