Visitors can enjoy seasonal food and drink inspired by produce grown on site and sourced locally, alongside relaxed dining in our Victorian Glasshouse. The programme includes creative traditional workshops, guided tours and seasonal events exploring gardening heritage, craft skills and biodiversity. Sustainability underpins all activity through organic growing methods, soil health, waste reduction and habitat enhancement. Each experience fosters a strong sense of place, encouraging learning, participation and wellbeing while celebrating the garden’s ongoing restoration journey.

The Walled Garden, Helen’s Bay delivers positive impact across environmental, social, cultural and educational areas through its restoration-led model. Environmentally, we prioritise organic, low-impact horticulture, improving soil health, enhancing biodiversity and creating habitats within a once-neglected historic site. Socially and culturally, the garden functions as a community space celebrating traditional crafts, heritage skills and local food culture through creative workshops, events and shared experiences, supported by a valued volunteer network central to the site’s ongoing care. Mindfulness and wellbeing are embedded throughout the visitor experience, with creative workshops and the tranquil garden setting offering space for reflection, connection with nature and restorative time away from daily pressures. Our governance and business model is rooted in reinvestment into restoration, ensuring the long-term preservation of the 1.5-acre walled garden while supporting local suppliers, makers and educators. What accommodations do you make for people living with disabilities?
We are committed to improving accessibility across the Walled Garden, Helen’s Bay. New footpaths within the garden will be fully operational by July 2026, providing a solid, level and stable surface to support easier movement throughout the site. In addition, the newly restored gardeners’ cottage accommodation will be completed by August 2026, including one fully accessible cottage designed to support guests with mobility needs. We continue to develop the site with inclusivity in mind, balancing heritage conservation with improved access, comfort and usability for all visitors.
