Through guided oceanfront tours and salt tastings, travelers learn about salt’s deep cultural significance in Hawai‘i. Visitors can also stop by our retail store—just minutes from the Kona airport—making it a meaningful first or final stop on their island journey, with every visit supporting sustainable practices and ocean-focused nonprofits. Open daily from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

ABOUT US
Located in the Hawai‘i Ocean Science & Technology (HOST) Park, we’re part of a collaborative community focused on sustainable innovation and ocean conservation. The Kona Salt Farm is Hawai‘i Island’s only working salt farm, dedicated to sustainably harvesting sea salt and deep ocean minerals from 2,200 feet below the surface—some of the purest waters on earth. Our mission is to honor Hawai‘i’s natural resources and cultural traditions through responsible ocean stewardship, education, and community partnerships. Every product and experience we offer is rooted in a deep respect for place, people, and the power of salt to connect and nourish.

OUR IMPACT
At the Kona Salt Farm, our impact is rooted in daily acts. Through our give-back program, we donate 1% of revenue to the Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project. We actively support education and awareness by hosting thousands of visitors annually on guided tours that highlight sustainable salt harvesting, ocean stewardship, renewable energy and the cultural significance of salt in Hawai‘i. We provide free office, lab and boat storage space to the Akoako’a Coral Restoration Program, supporting critical research and reef restoration here on Hawai’i Island. As a locally owned small business, we center shared values—respect, sustainability, and community—in every aspect of our operations, from plastic-free packaging and solar evaporation to showcasing nonprofits in our retail space and events. Our team is cared for as ʻohana, and we aim to model a regenerative, place-based approach to tourism.
