IDEAS For Us

IDEAS For Us

This location offers hands-on eco-projects, community gardens, and educational programs, making it a unique destination for sustainability enthusiasts.

OUR EXPERIENCES
At IDEAS For Us, we educate, engage, and mobilize volunteers in boots on the ground action to combat climate change. In order to take an integrated approach, we focus on 5 pillars of sustainability, each month we cycle between energy, water, food, waste and ecology. This allows us to take a diverse approach to our solution projects, taking the form of tree plantings, community garden installations, native landscaping projects, shoreline restorations, and more! On a monthly basis, we do over 6 projects that focus on educating people on environmental issues and mobilizing them to implement real solutions. Beyond our eco action programming, we create eco-enterprises to create green jobs and develop sustainability in our communities. Our flag-ship eco enterprise is Fleet Farming, where we are approaching food sovereignty by turning lawn space into food gardens in order provide the community with localized food. This allows us to use our team to create gardens all over Central Florida, in homes, schools, and community centers. We replicate this model of localizing action from our headquarters in Orlando to our branches around the world, where each community is empowered to implement solutions that satisfy their needs.

ABOUT US
The mission at IDEAS For Us is to develop, fund and scale solutions that solve the world's most pressing environmental challenges. We work to identify global environmental challenges and implement local solutions in communities around the world.

OUR IMPACT
The IDEAS For Us team all work to create environmental and social impact programming through multiple platforms. This programming includes environmental education for the youth through our Naturalist program, to agriculture education in schools in low income neighborhoods, to frequent eco-action programming that allow the public to participate in planting trees, rejuvenating ecosystems, and more. Each month we have a Hive meeting, where we bring an expert on a topic of sustainability to hold a presentation to educate the community. After the presentation, we hold a breakout session where the public discusses solution projects that align with the information we just learned. We take those ideas and turn them into eco action projects that we implement multiple times a month. These projects are based on the needs of the community. In Orlando we have water quality issues, so we often host shoreline restoration projects where we plant bareroot shoreline plants and native trees in shorelines. In Uganda they have a solar powered water pump program where they are providing clean water to people in a rural area. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we have multiple community gardens that provide the public with fresh and local food, and stimulate the economy with green jobs. Through our extremely diverse programming, we are able to take on climate and social challenges on multiple platforms, working with partners in the community to create an open and collaborative space.
