ABOUT US
Kigoma Eco-Cultural Tourism Enterprise is a community based social enterprise that offers authentic and sustainable travel experiences in Tanzania. Our mission is to provide eco-cultural tourism that empowers local communities, especially women and youth, while preserving cultural heritage and protecting the environment. Through guided tours, cultural activities, and community projects, we create meaningful connections between travelers and local people ensuring tourism benefits everyone involved.

OUR IMPACT
Kigoma Eco-Cultural Tourism Enterprise creates positive impact across multiple areas by integrating community empowerment, environmental protection, and cultural preservation into our core activities.

Governance/Business Model: We operate as a community based social enterprise, reinvesting a portion of our income into local development projects. Women and youth are directly involved in decision making and benefit from tourism revenues through employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Social/Cultural & Community: We support over 150 local women through sewing and craft production, helping them generate stable incomes. Our cultural tours, traditional dances, and food experiences preserve and promote indigenous knowledge while building community pride.

Environmental: We promote low impact tourism and engage in environmental education, including tree planting, waste reduction, and conservation awareness around natural sites like Gombe and Mahale National Parks.

Education/Awareness Building: We offer English and computer classes for youth and school students, aiming to build future leaders. Visitors also learn about local culture, history, and conservation, creating mutual understanding and global awareness. Our demonstrated impact includes increased household income for women, stronger community participation in conservation, and improved access to education for young people all rooted in tourism as a tool for transformation.
