Parador de Corias

Experience a historic Benedictine monastery in a natural park, offering eco-friendly stays, local cuisine, and activities like hiking and beekeeping.

OUR EXPERIENCES
At Parador de Corias, history, nature, and sustainability come together to offer a deeply enriching stay. Set in a restored 11th-century Benedictine monastery — known as the “Asturian Escorial” — the Parador preserves its architectural heritage while integrating modern, eco-conscious practices. Nestled in the heart of the Fuentes del Narcea Natural Park, guests are invited to explore pristine forests, enjoy low-impact outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, and experience the tranquility of a protected natural environment.

Committed to responsible tourism, the Parador promotes local sourcing in its restaurant, featuring traditional Asturian cuisine made with seasonal and regional ingredients. Energy efficiency measures, waste reduction, and support for local artisans and winemakers — including the rare D.O. Cangas wines — further reflect its dedication to sustainability. Whether you're drawn by the cultural heritage, natural beauty, or eco-friendly ethos, Parador de Corias offers a mindful and memorable escape.

ABOUT US
The Parador de Corias holds special significance, as it is located in a rural mountain area with a population of just over 300 inhabitants—traditionally far from major tourist routes. In this context, the Parador plays a vital role in revitalizing the municipality of Cangas del Narcea.

In addition to its historical value as a former monastery, the Parador has introduced the Nature for the Senses program, offering activities that highlight local products and experiences, such as exploring traditional beekeeping. This initiative helps visitors connect with the area's natural and cultural heritage while supporting small producers and energizing the local community.

OUR IMPACT
Parador de Corias is more than a destination — it’s a model of heritage preservation and sustainable hospitality. By restoring and maintaining the historic Benedictine monastery, we help safeguard centuries of cultural and architectural legacy for future generations. Every stay directly supports the conservation of this national monument, allowing guests to engage with history in a living, meaningful way.

Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our walls. We prioritize energy efficiency, reduce waste through careful resource management, and champion local suppliers and artisans to strengthen the regional economy. From featuring D.O. Cangas wines to collaborating with nearby producers and craftspeople, we ensure that our presence supports the community. By choosing Parador de Corias, you become part of a positive impact — one that protects the environment, uplifts local culture, and keeps history alive.
