The Global Meaningful Travel Map
El Velero de Aguilar
OUR EXPERIENCES
The sailing experience invites travelers to explore mountains, wild islands, and submerged villages from the water. Guests discover hidden coves, waterfowl, and the magic of sailing powered only by the wind—an experience for couples, families, or friends. Sailing on the Aguilar Reservoir is more than a boat ride: it reveals places frozen in time, beaches not found on maps, and landscapes only visible from the water, where there is no rush—just breeze, silence, and hidden corners to uncover.
ABOUT US
Commitment to the Montaña Palentina and the Aguilar Reservoir defines our work through respect, nature, and authenticity. El Velero de Aguilar was created with a clear philosophy: to enjoy the reservoir and surrounding landscapes in a conscious and respectful way. We sail without fossil fuels, interpreting wind and currents as in the past, ensuring each journey is unforgettable while leaving a positive impact. We promote small-scale tourism with reduced group sizes, avoid overcrowding, and highlight the area’s natural, geological, and cultural heritage so it remains a living treasure for future generations.
This Meaningful Travel Map Impact Partner was brought to our attention by Soy Ecoturista. Soy Ecoturista is a non-profit association that groups destinations and companies in Spain offering authentic ecotourism experiences in territories with protected areas. All members of Soy Ecoturista meet a series of environmental and social requirements that guarantee the traveler their contribution to the conservation of biodiversity and to the local development of the areas they visit.

IMPACT
Respect, nature, and commitment to the territory define the activity of El Velero de Aguilar, a project that promotes enjoyment of the Aguilar Reservoir, the Montaña Palentina, and the Las Loras Geopark from a responsible perspective. We sail using wind power, without fossil fuels, reviving a traditional way of traveling that minimizes environmental impact and allows for respectful interpretation of the landscape. As a company certified by the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and a collaborating entity of the Las Loras Geopark, we contribute to destination governance and the enhancement of natural and geological heritage. We work with small groups to avoid overcrowding, promote environmental education and conservation of flora and fauna, and support the local economy through collaboration with regional providers and services. Each experience generates a positive impact that helps sustain the landscape, biodiversity, and local communities.
