SeaChange Marine Conservation Society

Explore the serene Coastal Douglas Fir forest and rich cultural history at Tod Inlet, with guided walks and hands-on ecological restoration experiences.

OUR EXPERIENCES
SeaChange is privileged to help restore the Traditional lands and waters of the W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip First Nation), called SṈIDȻEȽ (Tod Inlet). Visitors are welcomed and guided on a short walk to the Inlet (approximately 7 minutes), where the rich layers of cultural history and ecological features of the peaceful Coastal Douglas Fir forest are explored. With 25 years of dedication to land and estuarine recovery, we are eager to share our collective knowledge and insights.

ABOUT US
SeaChange engages coastal communities in education, conservation, and the restoration of marine nearshore environments in the Salish Sea, British Columbia, Canada.

OUR IMPACT
SeaChange’s mission is made possible by the support of community members and networks of government and non-governmental organizations that share our vision for healthy marine and nearshore systems.

  • Since 1998, we have completed over 650 eelgrass restoration projects across four major regions of the Salish Sea in BC, starting with SṈIDȻEȽ and expanding to numerous other sites.

  • We teach ecological restoration and ecology through hands-on learning with First Nations members, engaging thousands of students and adults across British Columbia.

  • Our conservation efforts focus on protecting nearshore habitats and species through collaboration with local and governmental partnerships.

  • SeaChange has consistently demonstrated financial, social, and cultural integrity, maintaining a small staff and modest operations to prioritize impactful projects.

  • Our diverse Board of Directors, with expertise across professions, guides the organization through the financial and cultural shifts of today’s world.
