OUR EXPERIENCES
The Historical Society of Martin County is the 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the umbrella organization for The Elliott Museum and The House of Refuge, built in 1875 and the oldest and most iconic building in Martin County Florida.
The Elliott houses vintage cars in the Car Gallery, and more than 50 others in our 3-level car-racking system, The Foucault Pendulum, The Elliott Story, Art Down the Hall, bicycles, motorcycles, authentic 1800's General Store and the1920's The Ashley Gang. Explore the glory of baseball with more than 600 signed baseball cards, nearly 200 signed baseballs and 11 game-used bats making our collection one of the largest outside Cooperstown. The Main Gallery features premier exhibits that encourages exploration, discovery, engagement, and enjoyment.

The Historical Society of Martin County is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of the Treasure Coast, while providing fresh, eclectic, and relevant exhibitions and experiences. We strive to make our museums vibrant community gathering spaces that foster collaboration, support economic development, and continually earn the pride of our community. OUR IMPACT
The Elliott Museum and The House of Refuge are known "happy" places in Martin County and offer all guests, access to each exhibit, lecture, performance and all offerings in a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment. We are proud members of Museums for All and Wheel the World. The Elliott has an elevator, benches for resting, motorized scooters and manual wheelchairs, audio guides, easily accessible restrooms, and room for all.

When are you open?
Mon-Sun 10am-5pm. THE MUSEUMS ARE CLOSED: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
