ABOUT US
Dundee Community Craft CIC was established in collaboration with local residents in response to the city’s ongoing challenges with poverty, poor mental health, and drug-related deaths. The organization uses craft and design as tools to build resilience, boost confidence, and develop skills for those facing extreme adversity. All of Dundee Community Craft CIC’s products and services are co-designed, co-produced, and co-delivered by locals (Dundonians). With a particular focus on jewelry design and high-quality craftsmanship, we help solidify Dundee's status as a world-leading design center with a rich culture and heritage that locals are proud to contribute to. As a 'more than profit' organization, we exist to generate profit that can be reinvested into furthering our social objectives: giving voice and visibility, providing employment and education, and enriching the lives of the communities we serve through craft and design.
OUR IMPACT
We are training our community members to become part of our core delivery team, offering much-needed employment opportunities that help break the cycle of substance misuse and poor mental health. Through our bespoke, travel-trade bookable experiences, your clients will witness first-hand the positive impact their support has had on the lives of our community makers. Our community makers are recruited through our engagement work with Just-Bee Productions, a local charity, and the Bella Centre Dundee, a women’s community custody unit. Your clients will learn about the transformative changes happening at the local level in Dundee through our collaborative efforts with community partners. Our services have been evaluated by the University of Dundee School of Medicine and align with the Scottish Government's MAT (Medically Assisted Treatment) Standards as recommended by the Drug Death Task Force. Our Founder is also in the early stages of a research career at the University of Dundee, using jewelry design to influence health and social care practices and policy. We have received funding from the Corra Foundation, the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, the National Lottery, and the University of Dundee Venture McGhee Awards.
