The Global Meaningful Travel Map
Oregon Black Pioneers
OUR EXPERIENCES
Oregon Black Pioneers offers private Black history walking tours at select locations throughout Oregon, as well as presentations on Black history. OBP is Oregon’s only historical society dedicated to preserving and presenting the experiences of African Americans statewide. For more than 30 years, we’ve illuminated the seldom-told stories of people of African descent in Oregon through our engaging exhibits, public programs, publications, and historical research.
ABOUT US
Our Mission is to research, recognize, and commemorate the history and heritage of African Americans in Oregon.
OUR IMPACT
We are the only historical society in Oregon dedicated to telling all of these stories; our work helps to protect and preserve local cultural heritage, to fill in the gaps related to Black history in Oregon, and to demonstrate that Black people have a place and a history here.
