Yunguilla

Experience eco-tourism with forest hikes, family stays, and volunteering opportunities while enjoying organic products in a sustainable community.

OUR EXPERIENCES
We're a community legally set up as Yunguilla, a small business, to run tourism services and produce dairy products, jams, and organic items. Visitors can enjoy forest hikes, stay with families who've opened their homes to visitors, and explore volunteering opportunities. We also offer day tours to showcase all our services and products.

ABOUT US
We, as a community, are dedicated to fostering social, environmental, and economic development through job creation in areas such as community tourism, reforestation, and microfactories. Our mission revolves around cultivating an organized community with an optimistic environmental consciousness, guided by trained individuals committed to enhancing the community's quality of life.

Our goal is to generate employment opportunities by producing high-quality crafted products that contribute to improved health and education, portraying an image of sustainable development. Looking ahead, our vision is to remain organized and actively engaged in diverse responsibilities, leveraging the unique talents, qualities, and capabilities of all community members.

OUR IMPACT
Embracing a transformative lifestyle shift, we've witnessed positive social impacts as subsequent generations, empowered by the cessation of deforestation, have pursued and completed university degrees in fields relevant to our territory, including agronomy, tourism, marketing, and gastronomy. This marks a departure from the educational limitations faced by our grandparents.

Furthermore, we've recognized and elevated the roles of women, with two consecutive presidencies held by women and expanded opportunities for them in operational, administrative, and various other positions.

Simultaneously, our commitment to positive environmental impact is evident as we've evolved from forest destroyers to dedicated caretakers and conservationists. Through the establishment of a Sustainable Conservation Area (SCA), we've successfully regenerated 5,000 hectares of forest and are actively working on an additional 3,000 hectares. Embracing self-management, we collaborate with partners to extend our forest care initiatives to neighboring communities.

Additionally, we've implemented our water system to prevent wastage and assume responsibility for safeguarding our water sources, contributing to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship.
