Mangroversity

Mangroversity

Experience regenerative tourism through hands-on learning, mangrove conservation, and authentic community life that supports local people and nature.

OUR EXPERIENCES

Learn, appreciate, and be inspired by the regenerative culture and local traditions in the heart of the mangrove forest on Koh Klang, Krabi’s secluded gem. Mangroversity is your destination for education, conservation, and development through community-led regenerative tourism.

ABOUT US

Mission: To create transformative learning experiences that support community well-being, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation through regenerative tourism and meaningful collaboration.

Vision: A thriving island community where people and nature live in harmony, and where visitors become part of a shared journey toward a more sustainable, connected, and compassionate world.

IMPACT

Mangroversity transforms tourism into a force for regeneration by creating impact across five interconnected dimensions.

Nature – restoring mangrove forests, and coastal ecosystems through community-led conservation.

People – empowering local people with leadership opportunities, and meaningful roles for vulnerable community members.

Culture – revitalizing local wisdom, gastronomy, and traditional ways of life by transforming them into immersive learning experiences.

Economy – attracting new visitor segments, and generating more inclusive income for the community.

Movement – building partnerships to expand regenerative tourism beyond Koh Klang and inspire wider systemic change.

  1. Environment: We created three community teams for three objectives: mangrove restoration, animal conservation, and trash management. We work with NGOs (such as Naturemind-ED), and all of these efforts support DMCR’s goals. Alongside this, we created our own fund for community development. 2. Culture: We work with agencies (such as Local Alike and Mitria) to create new programs for tourists to experience local wisdom, gastronomy, and our way of life. See: https://www.instagram.com/p/DFw5yBmNYai/?img_index=3 and https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ER5wMWxFh/
  3. People: We created a prototype (supported by Ecoversities) to work with vulnerable people in our project. For us, we have more members, but for them this is a new opportunity—a way to be proud and be accepted. See: https://ecoversities.org/mangroversity-thailand/
  4. Local economy: We bring new target groups (such as educational tourists) to the community, and we run activities with new villagers, bringing new members into the tourism industry.
  5. Community empowerment: We collaborate with governments, NGOs, agencies, and hotels. Together we are working on "Cherish Krabi," a showcase event to bring more members into regenerative tourism for greater impact. See: https://www.facebook.com/share/17pkneLt3p/

Because 95% of the villagers are Muslim, it is preferable not to visit on Fridays or during Ramadan. If necessary, alternative programs can be arranged.

As we are living on an island, the first obstacle is walking from the pier and boarding the boat. Many visitors with disabilities may find this challenging. Once on the island, however, accommodations, transportation, and activities are generally not an issue.
