Impact
As the national tourism organisation for Scotland, VisitScotland is focused on responsible growth, working with the tourism industry, local communities, and visitors to take collaborative action to protect Scotland’s world-famous natural assets and renowned tourism offering. Our responsible tourism strategy focuses on:
• Supporting our tourism businesses and events to meet their net zero targets, contributing to Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
• Ensuring tourism and events in Scotland are inclusive, partnering with expert organisations to provide the tools and resources for businesses to extend the same warm welcome to all visitors.
• Contributing to thriving communities by leading a coordinated approach through our marketing, promoting all corners of Scotland throughout the year to alleviate pressures and build tourism responsibly.
• Encouraging the protection and considerate enjoyment of Scotland’s natural and cultural heritage by providing the information and inspiration to our visitors so they can enjoy Scotland responsibly.
VisitScotland was the first national tourism organisation to join Tourism Declares and declare a Climate Emergency while also being an integral part of the drafting committee for the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, committing to taking bold action and championing positive change. Our Intermediary Marketing team works with tour operators, travel advisors, and DMCs to connect you with local visitor experiences to enhance any itinerary.
