Fyvie Castle - The National Trust for Scotland

Explore a historic walled garden featuring Scotland's largest collection of fruits and vegetables, with private tours and sustainable gardening insights.

OUR EXPERIENCES
Our Walled Garden of Scottish Fruit at Fyvie Castle, set in the heart of Aberdeenshire, is home to the largest collection of Scottish fruits and vegetables. We offer private tours and talks, where you can learn the stories of people who lived here, how we care for this 800-year-old castle, and you can join our gardener to learn about sustainable gardening.

ABOUT US
The National Trust for Scotland is the proud guardian and largest protector of Scotland's assets, and we offer a unique insight into its magnificent stories, places, and people. As a conservation charity, our purpose is to care for, share, and speak up for Scotland’s magnificent heritage. Since 1931, we’ve pioneered public access to and shared ownership of some of the most magnificent buildings, collections, and habitats in Scotland. We care for ancient houses, battlefields, castles, mills, gardens, coastlines, islands, mountain ranges, and all the communities, plants, and animals that depend upon them. By choosing to work with us, you are directly contributing to supporting our rangers, conservation experts, property teams, and volunteers committed to caring for our buildings, protecting our mountains and wildlife, and engaging people with our past - inspiring a Love for Scotland.

OUR IMPACT
Containing one of the largest bodies of water in the area as well as stretches of quiet woodland and pasture, Fyvie Estate is home to many wetland birds and woodland creatures. We maintain acres of trails and woodland to allow our local community and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the stunning landscape around Fyvie Castle. Sustainability and engagement with the local community are at the heart of this property. Produce from the garden is available for sale to the local community from a bothy (a shelter) in the garden, which is operated by an honesty box, and we work with the local community to find new ways to encourage diverse audiences to our Trust properties and to enjoy our built and natural heritage to improve health and wellbeing.
