OUR IMPACT
Located in an area that benefits from tourism and has the capacity to grow it sustainably, responsibly, and year-round, this business holds a Green Tourism Gold Award in recognition of its eco-friendly approach to travel in the Orkney Isles. It offers a unique Renewable Energy Tour and is deeply committed to responsible travel, climate action, sustainability, and community benefit.
The business promotes lesser-visited destinations to relieve pressure on tourist hotspots while supporting local businesses, makers, artists, producers, and suppliers. It actively collaborates with and supports local communities, aiming to leave a positive impact on every place it visits.
With a strong focus on balanced, inclusive economic benefit, the business champions small local enterprises and ensures tourism supports everyone on the islands. It partners with initiatives like Climate Care and supports a range of local charities and organisations including the RNLI, RSPB, Orkney Native Wildlife Project, Greener Orkney, Inclusive Orkney, and the RSABI.
It provides training for college students, mentorship for trainee tour guides, and supports a youth heritage programme to tackle depopulation and help ensure tourism benefits future generations in Orkney.
Additionally, the business sponsors a local swimming group and supports the Malawi Music Fund, an Orkney-based charity helping orphaned children in East Africa. It also sponsors the annual North Ronaldsay Sheep Festival, which brings the local community together to rebuild the island’s historic Sheep Dyke and preserve its unique cultural heritage through music, art, and education.
