Heritage and Archaeological Research Practice (HARP Archaeology)

Explore unique archaeological tours led by experts, uncovering local history and supporting community heritage while engaging in hands-on experiences.

OUR EXPERIENCES
We offer a series of walking and minibus tours, and are also available for private and bespoke tours. All of our tours are led by professional archaeologists who give you an insight into the past that is different from regular history tours. We highlight local excavations and give you an understanding of how the area you are touring developed during both prehistoric and historical times. We guide you through the archaeological skills used to identify and record heritage sites, giving you the opportunity to ‘have a go’.

With ancient maps, photos of excavations, and gems of information, our tours offer something different and guarantee that you will be leaving with a lot more than you started with. By taking part you will directly support local Heritage Societies and Trusts whose sites and activities will be front and centre of your experience, taking you further than a traditional tour ever could.

As a not-for-profit organisation, your support will also feed back into our community outreach and educational programmes, helping more people to learn new skills and engage with archeological sites and their local heritage.

ABOUT US
Heritage and Archaeological Research Practice Ltd are a Social Enterprise that aims to promote and enhance public understanding and awareness of archaeological and cultural heritage issues. We specialise in archaeological field schools and provide bespoke tours and experiences that directly support local community groups and heritage organisations.

We are actively involved with a number of local communities with an aim to develop a better understanding of our cultural heritage and how to successfully appreciate, preserve and publicise archaeology and cultural heritage.

OUR IMPACT
As a Social Enterprise we are a not-for-profit organisation, and thus, any ‘profit’ generated from the work and projects undertaken by us are reinvested into events and activities in order to provide training opportunities and outreach events for the public. Our tours and experiences directly support local heritage groups and societies, providing them with an ability to generate income to help promote and care for their local heritage sites.
