About
Welcome to the Land of Everyday Wonder – Denmark!
We may be Scandinavia's smallest country, but we offer countless unforgettable experiences waiting to be discovered.

Summer nights are long, and winter days are wonderfully cosy. With more than 4,500 miles of coastline—mostly white, sandy beaches—over 400 islands, and one of the world’s oldest monarchies, Denmark is a land of rich history and natural beauty. We even boast award-winning wineries!

Our largest cities—Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg—are all connected by train, making it easy to explore. With short travel distances from city centers to the coast, Denmark is perfect for a cycling, train, or hiking holiday. Discover charming inns, majestic castles, seaside hotels, and vibrant urban neighbourhoods.

Join food tours, architecture tours, or history tours to gain a deeper understanding of Denmark. For the most enriching experience, we recommend travelling through the regions of Denmark by land to truly immerse yourself in local culture.

And if you're eager to explore the rest of Scandinavia, why not sail from North Denmark?

Impact
Denmark is on the forefront when it comes to sustainability and sustainable living. The country has ambitious climate goals to reduce greenhouse emissions, and those projects are on track. Cycling is in the DNA of Denmark and Danes, and visitors will see how Danes use the bicycle as an integrated mode of transport in their everyday life. Copenhagen and Denmark have a long history of being forerunners for LGBTQIA+ rights. Denmark was in 1989 the first country in the world to enact registered partnerships, and the first-ever registered gay marriage was between Eigil and Axel Axgil, after having been a couple for 40 years. In 2012, gay marriage became legal and equivalent to heterosexual marriage as the 7th country worldwide to do so.

In terms of tourism, VisitDenmark aims to work with hotels with strong sustainability practices, local experience providers and to spread tourism across the country to avoid over-tourism at hotspots and during peak seasons. Denmark can have a low knowledge degree abroad and therefore it is important to promote experiences outside the city center of Copenhagen.
