SaimaaHoliday Oravi
OUR EXPERIENCES
Oravi village is an intimate canal‑side community nestled between Linnansaari and Kolovesi National Parks. Our family owned company operate a canoe and kayak centre, renting boats and outdoor gear for day‑trips or extended wilderness adventures on Lake Saimaa. Travellers can also join small‑group wildlife safaris in open boats (May–Oct) where expert guides share the Saimaa ringed seal’s story and help guests respectfully observe these endangered animals
Our full‑service outdoor center offers accommodation (villas, hotel rooms and an off‑grid eco‑hostel), a village shop, a harbour‑side restaurant, saunas and shuttle service, so visitors can enjoy authentic local hospitality, lake‑to‑table dining and seamless access to guided tours, paddling routes and seasonal events.
ABOUT US
SaimaaHoliday Oravi is a small, community based tourism company whose mission is to provide unforgettable nature based holidays that respect the environment and sustain local livelihoods. Our values are built around long term operations, environmental stewardship and economic sustainability. We foster community and cooperation by building strong partnerships and promoting a sense of belonging, deliver high quality personalised service, and approach our work with joy and innovation. Situated in a 150 resident village between two national parks, we offer year round access to lake activities, a village shop, restaurant and accommodation. Inclusivity is central – we continually improve physical accessibility, welcome people of all backgrounds and actively commit to diversity.
OUR IMPACT
Sustainability is at the heart of our business. We use renewable energy like solar panels and heat pumps, build with wood, and preserve the natural landscape. Our off-grid eco hostel operates without electricity or running water, maintaining traditional meadows through seasonal mowing and volunteer work. We’re certified by EcoCompass and have completed the Sustainable Travel Finland program, reflecting our long-term environmental commitment.
As one of the few employers in our village, we create year-round jobs and support local livelihoods by buying fish from nearby fishermen and partnering with community groups. Our café and shop are year-round gathering spots, and we offer accessible activities like seal safaris with adapted boats.
We encourage low-impact travel through cycling, paddling, and shared transport. Our seal-friendly tourism practices help protect the endangered Saimaa ringed seal, and we promote sustainable fishing and hiking through visitor guidelines.
Our guided tours aim to educate and inspire. Whether on a seal safari or kayaking trip, guests learn about the region’s wildlife, ecology, and the importance of protecting it. Through our work, we support nature, strengthen community, and raise awareness for future generations.
