ABOUT US
RUNO is an independent handmade-highend hotel concept that respects and represents the Finnish culture and heritage and challenges the operational norms to create a more welcoming and approachable hotel environment.

OUR IMPACT
RUNO Hotel is a restored historic property built on cultural preservation and strong local ties. Over 90% of the renovation was done by local artisans, and all staff are from the town. Food is sourced within 20 minutes of the hotel.

The restoration used traditional methods—renovating original windows, doors, and floors, with natural paints and repurposed materials throughout.

RUNO highlights Finnish culture, especially from Karelia, through its food, textiles, and design. Our Biannual Art Exhibition showcases six local artists and over 100 works, refreshed every six months. A locally written book on the hotel’s 110-year history, based on 60+ interviews, is in every room.

Certified by Green Key and Sustainable Travel Finland, RUNO operates sustainably while supporting local experience providers as the region’s first full-service hotel.
