ABOUT US
We are the “Association of Community Tourism Entrepreneurs of Los Uros - ASEMTURC.” We are made up of 27 floating islands committed to preserving our ancestral culture and the biodiversity of Lake Titicaca. The purpose of our organization is to revalue and disseminate our traditions and customs, thereby keeping our ancestral culture alive and promoting responsible tourism that benefits our community and is sustainable for the environment.
OUR IMPACT
The Uros Islands showcase a unique way of life on the highest navigable lake in the world. We use totora, a plant endemic to Titicaca, to build our houses following traditional architecture and in harmony with the environment. In addition, we have adopted the use of solar energy for our families and our visitors. This contributes to the sustainable development of tourism, which we lead and manage in the best possible way, ensuring that the economic benefits generated have an impact on our community, while promoting cultural exchange between us and our visitors.
