OUR EXPERIENCES
Laem Sak offers meaningful, hands-on experiences led by local residents. Visitors can explore mangroves and limestone cliffs by sea kayak, learn traditional batik-making, and take part in sea grape planting to support coastal conservation. Local cooking classes invite guests to prepare and enjoy Southern Thai dishes, while island excursions reveal hidden beaches and cultural sites. Throughout each activity, travelers engage with the community’s rich blend of Thai Buddhist, Muslim, and Chinese heritage, making every visit personal, educational, and impactful.

ABOUT US
Founded in 2014 in Krabi, Thailand, the Laem Sak Tourism Community Enterprise is a locally led organization promoting sustainable, community-based tourism across ten culturally diverse villages. Through a network of 12 micro-enterprises, residents offer eco-friendly activities like sea kayaking, batik-making, and sea grape planting—designed to protect natural resources while generating income.

Supported by organizations like Planeterra and the North Andaman Network, the enterprise empowers local men, women, and youth, fostering environmental stewardship and cultural pride. Recognized with the 2022 Responsible Thailand Award, it serves as a model for inclusive, responsible tourism in Southeast Asia.

OUR IMPACT
The Laem Sak Tourism Community Enterprise creates lasting positive change for both the environment and the people who call this region home. By promoting low-impact, locally led tourism, the community helps protect Laem Sak’s delicate coastal ecosystems—including mangroves, sea grapes, and marine life—through conservation activities like sea kayaking, sea grape planting, and responsible island tours.

Economically, the enterprise provides sustainable income for over 450 community members across 10 villages. Through micro-enterprises run by local women, youth, and elders, tourism earnings are reinvested into education, local development, and cultural preservation. The initiative fosters pride, strengthens intergenerational knowledge-sharing, and encourages stewardship of natural and cultural heritage.
