ABOUT US
Khaolak Merlin Resort is a family-run eco-resort situated where the rainforest of South Thailand meets the Andaman Sea. We preserve the original landscape of the tropical rainforest by dedicating almost 50% of our 30-rai resort to nature, preserving over 250 native trees where over 150 species of wildlife have made their homes. Our design mimics the waterfalls and streams of nature so our guests can comfortably immerse themselves in a jungle retreat, complete with night safaris and bird watching tours.
OUR IMPACT
Since 2019, we’ve proudly maintained Travelife Gold certification for our sustainability efforts. All hotel wastewater is treated with a closed microbial system and used to water large trees on the property. We monitor over 200 animal species and 250 trees, with data logged in the Treeplotter app and guided by a visiting wildlife surveyor and our resident biologist (MSc in Zoology). Educational signs and in-room booklets help guests learn about local biodiversity, while activities like night safaris, birdwatching, and tree walks are guest favorites. We use camera traps to observe treetop wildlife, including rare species like the colugo and slow loris. Food waste is composted or sent to pig farms, and recyclables are sorted and sold locally. We source 80% of our food within 100 km and actively reduce single-use plastics throughout the resort.
