OUR EXPERIENCES

Llanos journeys (The Llanos are vast tropical grasslands in northern South America, primarily in eastern Colombia and western Venezuela) and safari experiences including walking, horseback, and 4x4 excursions for birdwatching and wildlife observation in the company of local guides and traditional llanero cowboys. Travelers experience the flooded savannas of Colombia’s Llanos region through immersive, small-group adventures rooted in nature and ranching tradition.

ABOUT US

CONSERVE: Since 1908 we have conserved the ecosystem and biodiversity of our territories. PRESERVE: We take social responsibility for preserving Llanero culture and tradition so that it endures, is not lost, and remains part of our heritage. PROTECT: We safeguard the intangible legacy of Abuelo Gerardo — “Nature and Llanero Tradition” — present in our ranches. TEACH: We pass on the sustainability of this legacy to the next family generation, the community of San Luis de Palenque, and visitors to our Natural Reserve El Encanto de Guanapalo. LIVE: Our values and principles guide us so that all may enjoy unique experiences while coexisting with, respecting, and admiring the nature and llanero tradition of Casanare.

IMPACT

Reserva Natural El Encanto de Guanapalo protects nearly 9,000 hectares (approximately 22,000 acres) of flooded savannas, wetlands, and gallery forests in the Colombian Llanos. This ecosystem supports hundreds of bird species and a wide range of native wildlife including capybaras, deer, anteaters, monkeys, caimans, and big cats. The reserve is recognized as an Important Area for the Conservation of Birds and Biodiversity (AICA) and maintains habitat integrity through small group sizes (maximum 12 guests) and activities designed for responsible wildlife observation with minimal disturbance.

Socially and culturally, the reserve preserves and actively practices llanero heritage, including cowboy traditions, music, and traditional cattle work songs. Local guides and vaqueros are central to the experience, ensuring tourism supports rural livelihoods and cultural continuity in San Luis de Palenque.
