Through our Sello Waya initiative, travelers can access locally led experiences in nature, culture, beach and desert landscapes, co-created with communities who inhabit the territory. Governance & Responsible Operations: Sustainability is embedded across our business model and supported by recognized certifications including LEED, the Colombian Environmental Seal (NTC 5133), and Tourism Sustainability Certification (NTS TS 002).

Social, Cultural & Community Impact: Waya prioritizes local employment—95% of our workforce is from La Guajira and 29% of team members self-identify as part of an ethnic group (Afro-descendant or Indigenous), reflecting our commitment to honoring the cultural diversity and identity of the territory.

Artisan Inclusion & Cultural Heritage: Through our fair-trade artisan network, Waya works with women leaders who represent approximately 240 Wayuu artisans across 7 communities, supporting income generation while preserving ancestral traditions.

Community-Based Tourism Ecosystem: The Sello Waya currently integrates 7 active community-led tourism experiences, connecting travelers with authentic routes in nature, culture and coastal landscapes. We also collaborate with additional local allies as part of a growing tourism ecosystem.

Environmental Stewardship & Guest Awareness: Waya implements water reuse systems, renewable energy expansion, waste management practices, and guest education materials throughout the property to promote responsible travel behaviors.
