ABOUT US
SAWA SAWA is a nonprofit fashion and lifestyle brand dedicated to creating sustainable solutions to poverty by empowering artisan women in Kenya. We combine ancient craftsmanship with modern design to produce eco-friendly, handcrafted bags, baskets, and accessories that support women’s economic independence, preserve wildlife, and celebrate cultural heritage. Through our Rafiki Trips and community partnerships, we connect people globally, promote sustainable tourism, and foster meaningful, lasting impact for people and the planet.

OUR IMPACT
SAWA SAWA creates a profound social and environmental impact by empowering rural Kenyan women through sustainable craftsmanship, fostering economic independence and poverty alleviation. Our work directly supports 11 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, quality education, and environmental sustainability. By partnering with local communities, we preserve ancient traditions, provide reproductive health resources to keep girls in school, and create economic opportunities that uplift families. Environmentally, we promote wildlife conservation through projects like solar motion light installations to reduce human-wildlife conflict and cultural tourism initiatives that connect livelihoods to nature preservation. Committed to DEI, SAWA SAWA amplifies marginalized voices by centering women-led, locally driven solutions, ensuring accessibility to resources and opportunities for sustainable growth.
