We the Curious

Experience interactive exhibits, a unique 3D planetarium, and hands-on science activities for all ages in Bristol's vibrant harborside.

OUR EXPERIENCES
Where else can you fly through space, turn invisible, and step inside a giant bubble—all in one afternoon?

We The Curious is an educational charity and science centre at the heart of Bristol’s historic harbourside. With over 200 interactive exhibits across two floors and the UK’s only 3D planetarium, it's a place to play, experiment, and explore together.

Visitors can dive into life’s big questions in the Project What If exhibition, inspired by curious minds across Bristol. Try experiments in the Kitchen and Greenhouse, take part in real research in the Open City Lab, build ball runs, launch a hot air balloon, and discover how our brains and bodies work—plus much more.

It’s a full day of hands-on discovery for all ages, complete with a gift shop and a vegetarian café.

ABOUT US
What if everyone is included, curious and inspired by science to build a better world together?

We The Curious is an educational charity and a leading UK science centre. We’re driven by our mission to connect and empower people through sharing creative experiences which celebrate unknowns in science. We welcome tens of thousands of visitors to our venue each year, including thousands of school children attending for inspiring school trips and science workshops and shows.

Sales from tickets and income from our shop, café and venue hire spaces help fund our operation as a science centre and our work as a charity.

Our work as a charity is centred around five key pledges:

Cultivate curiosity – sparking and sustaining people’s curiosity to unlock the potential in people and our planet.

Include everyone – promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of our work, from accessible spaces to recruitment.

Sustainable futures – making changes and driving sustainable behaviour across everything we do.

Open City Research – working with our research partners to give people the opportunity to be part of science research.

Build resilience – adapting to change, remaining focussed on our charitable aims.

OUR IMPACT
We The Curious is a registered UK charity and a ‘Disability Confident’ and ‘Living Wage’ employer, with around 140 staff in central Bristol. We’re committed to sustainability, having declared a climate emergency in 2019, and aim to be powered entirely by renewable energy with a 30% reduction in offsite carbon emissions by 2030. Sustainability features across our work—from planetarium shows and school workshops to national partnerships and community projects.

Inclusion is at the heart of what we do. We offer free and discounted entry for refugees, asylum seekers, and schools with high levels of need, and run outreach, work experience, and tailored programmes to reach underrepresented groups. Through Open City Research, we co-create hands-on research experiences with communities and scientists, helping more people take part in and shape scientific discovery.
