Eden Project
OUR EXPERIENCES
Bold, beautiful and breathtaking - the Eden Project is one of the UK’s most iconic attractions. Once a disused clay pit, this award-winning site has been transformed into a spectacular global garden - celebrating nature, art, and sustainability in the most imaginative ways.
ABOUT US
We demonstrate and inspire positive action for the planet.
As a growing movement of global citizens, we reconnect people with nature, we demonstrate and communicate positive change, and we inspire advocates of action.
Earth provides us with fresh air, clean water, rich biodiversity and a stable climate. We believe that the planetary emergency issues are all symptoms of the same problem: we have broken our relationship with the natural world. That’s why the Eden Project are working with, for and as part of nature to repair this relationship by demonstrating and inspiring positive action for the planet.
OUR IMPACT
At the Eden Project, education and sustainability are central to everything we do. In 2023/24, we supported over 33,000 learners from preschool to university, with nearly 92,000 students taking part in our online workshops. Our nature recovery work, such as the Eden Project Wildflower Bank, promotes biodiversity through habitat restoration, while our therapeutic horticulture and nature connection programmes support wellbeing, including initiatives like nature photography courses for under-25s. Through community programmes like The Big Lunch, we helped over 14 million people connect, combat loneliness, and raise over £87 million for local causes since 2015.
Eden’s regenerative sustainability efforts include reducing carbon emissions by 20% and gas usage by 19%, increasing on-site composting by 42%, and planting 1.6 hectares of woodland. Our geothermal energy plant now heats key facilities, and we achieved Planet Mark certification for the 13th year. These actions support multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, from clean energy to climate action, as we work toward becoming a climate-positive organisation by 2030.
