ABOUT US
Forest Distillery is an independent, family-run producer of premium spirits, based in the historic Cat & Fiddle building high in Macclesfield Forest. Our mission is to craft exceptional gin and whisky using the finest local ingredients, pure forest spring water, and time-honoured distilling methods, while caring for our team, community, and environment. We are committed to operating sustainably, from ethical sourcing and low-impact production, to protecting the surrounding Peak District landscape. Respectful of the building’s heritage and the area’s cultural history, our vision is to become a fully off-grid distillery, powered entirely by renewable energy, ensuring our craft leaves a lasting legacy without harming the place we call home.
OUR IMPACT
As a family-run independent business, we operate with transparency, fairness, and integrity—prioritising local employment, fair wages, and partnerships with small regional suppliers to keep economic benefits within the community. Our decisions balance profitability with long-term sustainability and environmental responsibility. Based in the restored historic Cat & Fiddle inn, we celebrate the heritage of one of England’s most iconic pubs while supporting a network of local farms, artisans, and hospitality businesses that strengthen the Peak District’s tourism economy.
Sustainability is at the heart of our distillery. We use pure spring water, responsibly foraged botanicals, and casks from sustainably managed woodland, all powered by 100% renewable energy. Our efforts to reduce waste and emissions include a refill system, a switch to lightweight aluminium miniatures, and the development of low-impact packaging. Through guided tours and tastings, we share our craft and promote awareness of local culture, heritage conservation, and environmental stewardship.
